Who this policy covers.
This Privacy Policy applies to Tenor’s websites, applications, AI employees, support, and connected services. A company or workspace that deploys Tenor controls which people, channels, accounts, and tools its Tenor employees may access. That company’s own privacy notices and policies may also apply to its users.
Information we process.
We process information needed to configure, operate, secure, and support Tenor. Depending on how a customer configures the service, this may include:
- Account and business information, such as names, work contact details, company details, roles, and administrator settings.
- Connected-service information, such as workspace and account identifiers, authorization tokens, granted permissions, channel and user directories, and integration settings.
- Slack content made available to Tenor, such as direct messages, app mentions, messages in authorized channels, threads, files, reactions, slash commands, and interactive actions.
- Instructions, outputs, approvals, work history, files, and other content created or supplied while using a Tenor employee.
- Technical and security information, such as timestamps, delivery and error records, browser and device information, IP-derived information, and diagnostic logs.
Tenor does not receive every message in a Slack workspace. What it can receive depends on the permissions approved during installation, the channels and people made available to it, and how workspace administrators configure access.
On our public websites, we use PostHog to understand site usage and improve the experience. PostHog may collect page views, clicks, copied text, performance data, errors, browser and device details, approximate location derived from IP address, and session replays of page interactions. We configure session replay to mask all form inputs before replay data is sent. We use cookies and local storage to recognize a browser across visits.
How we use information.
We use information to provide and improve the service requested by our customers, including to:
- Authenticate users and connected services, route messages, and carry out authorized work.
- Give a Tenor employee the context, memory, tools, and history needed to perform its assigned role.
- Generate responses and work products, request approval, deliver results, and preserve an auditable work history.
- Detect abuse, protect accounts, investigate failures, maintain reliability, and provide support.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce agreements.
AI processing and model training.
Tenor uses AI models and other service providers to interpret authorized content and complete customer-requested work. AI-generated output can be inaccurate and should be reviewed before it is used for consequential decisions.
Tenor does not sell Slack data and does not use Slack messages, files, or other Slack content to train or fine-tune generalized AI models. We use that content to provide, secure, support, and improve the customer’s configured Tenor service.
When information is shared.
We may share information only as needed with:
- Infrastructure, hosting, security, analytics, communications, support, and AI service providers that help us operate Tenor.
- Connected applications and accounts when a customer or authorized user directs Tenor to use them.
- The customer that controls the relevant Tenor deployment and people the customer authorizes.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal information or Slack data for advertising.
Our public website is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes request and security data such as IP addresses and browser details. Website analytics are provided by PostHog. When you follow a scheduling link, the information you submit is processed by Cal.com and shared with Tenor to arrange the meeting. These providers process information under their own privacy terms and our agreements with them.
Retention, uninstallation, and deletion.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the configured service, maintain security and business records, meet contractual commitments, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Retention can vary by data type, customer configuration, and agreement.
Uninstalling the Slack app revokes its ongoing Slack access but may not delete information already retained by Tenor. A workspace administrator or authorized customer representative can request deletion of Slack data or an account by contacting amgad@heytenor.com. We may need to verify the requester’s identity and authority before completing a request.
How we protect information.
Tenor uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These include encrypted network transport, scoped permissions, access controls, secret management, logging, backups, and review or approval boundaries for sensitive actions. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or loss will never occur.
Your choices and rights.
Workspace administrators can control installation, granted Slack scopes, authorized users and channels, connected tools, and approval rules. Users can choose what they send to Tenor and can ask their workspace administrator to change access.
You can limit website analytics by blocking or deleting cookies and local storage in your browser. Doing so may reset site preferences or identifiers. Tenor does not use website analytics data to serve targeted advertising.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of certain personal information. Contact us to make a request. We may direct requests about employer-controlled information to the relevant customer.
International use, children, and updates.
Tenor and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those where you live.
Tenor is a business service and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as our service or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required.
